Weapons grade nuclear fuel soon no longer needed, US firm has path for generating power from non-enriched uranium
DALLAS (Jan. 17, 2011) – A traveling wave nuclear reactor being pioneered by TerraPower of Bellevue, Washington will produce zero-emission, proliferation-resistant energy with significantly smaller amounts of nuclear waste than conventional nuclear reactors.
The key is generating power from depleted uranium. “We’re working to separate the nuclear electricity world from the nuclear weapons world and this concept takes two big steps in that direction,” says TerraPower’s Nick Touren, a nuclear scientist. “This process not only gets rid of the processing plant but it also gets rid of the enrichment plant.”
Iran makes a compelling argument that they need to develop nuclear power for their own peaceful industrial growth. But to do that Iran must enrich uranium which can also be used to make nuclear bombs. “We can eliminate that argument by saying you don’t need an enrichment plant at all,” Touren says. “You can have energy security because this core is going to last as long as you give it depleted uranium, and even without depleted uranium it will still run for forty years.”

Science and technology development and applied for any human need can not be stopped. And nuclear for weapon is only needed by the colonialist and imperialist whom wanna dominate other countries for their greediness and domination. The nation and the peoples whom love peace and freedom need the security for people safely and welfare. Why did US and Western so support and protect Israel invade and occupied Palestine people, because US and Western nature keep grasping their colonize in the Mideast countries for their oil and hegemonic power in the region.
